Air duct cleaning costs vary depending on the size of your home (or commercial building) and the relative complexity of the work. According to HomeAdvisor, homeowners in the Philadelphia area can expect to pay between $284--$443 for duct work cleaning. (The national average is $350).
However, as HomeAdvisor reveals, duct cleaning prices also vary depending on the duct cleaning company. In the Philadelphia area, “low end” companies charge as little as $125. “High end” companies charge as much as $530.
These prices may or may not be relevant to your home. Most duct cleaning companies create estimates based on several factors, including the number of air vents or the need for additional services, such as cleaning the components of the furnace and/or air conditioning unit.
Most duct cleaning companies also offer a separate charge for cleaning the air conditioning unit’s evaporator and condenser coils and dryer vent cleaning.
So how do you choose the best company (and price)?
When researching companies and comparing prices, you may be tempted to choose the most inexpensive option. However, Angie of Angie’s List recommends avoiding lowball offers: “Companies offering a super low price on air duct cleaning might do more harm and no good.”
Angie’s List pins the average price of air duct cleaning between $300--$500, but Angie also notes that Pennsylvania, like most states, does not have air duct licensing requirements, “so it’s important to do your research and hire a company with a good reputation. Check online reviews and ask for referrals.”
